Update on Discrimination Charges
As a result of discrimination claims made against Interim Chief Hal Wolverton, the board placed him on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into the charges. This occurred in December. That investigation, done by a third party fully experienced in these issues, was completed on March 7th, 2022 and subsequently shared with the board, though we did have some follow up questions relating to the report.
The report concluded that, based on objective evidence, none of the allegations made could be sustained to have violated the law or Fire Department Policy.
The above statement was made this evening, on March 22, 2022, following an executive session at a regular Board Meeting. After this statement, the Board voted to immediately reinstate Chief Wolverton to his previous position as Interim Fire Chief.
