We pledge to be strong financial managers and responsible stewards of the resources entrusted to us by the community.
We will serve our community with professionailism by promoting individual responsibility, a continuous learning environment, and the practice of respect for ourselves and others. We are committeed to timely and effective communication, comprehensive and progressive training, and innovative risk taking.
The Key Peninsula Fire Department was incorporated in the year 1952. The Key Peninsula is located west of Gig Harbor and is made up of 65 square miles and offers wonderful forested parks and scenic views as well as agricultural and maritime history.
There are more than 70 miles of shore line that wrap around the peninsula. The geography of the Key Peninsula and the distribution of population density make it challenging to provide firefighting and medical aid coverage. The peninsula is approximately 16 miles long and is just under 2 miles wide at it's narrowest point.
We have 2 full time staffed fire stations on the Key Peninsula, one is located in Wauna and the other is located in Home. Each of the 2 staffed stations has a cross staffed Medic Unit and Fire Engine. As daily staffing allows, we staff an additional 3rd station located near Wright Bliss and SR 302 with a cross staffed Fire Engine and Aid Unit. The Fire Station in Key Center has administrative personnel working in the station during normal business hours, however you will see Firefighters coming and going throughout the day as this is our central hub for training, admin, and mail.
We are a combination department which consists of both career and volunteer firefighters. We provide Fire Protection Services and Emergency Medical Transport Services to the community on the Key Peninsula.
