The Chief’s Desk;
This week our crews responded to 47 emergency calls including; A elderly female found deceased in her home, A woman who reported being stabbed in the hand with possible arterial bleeding, A request from Pierce County Sheriff’s to assist retrieving a dead body from Minter Creek, A single vehicle crash on SR302 at Danforth with no injuries and A 2-car collision on SR302 near Springbrook Lane that caused the roadway to be blocked.
This Tuesday evening we will hold our Public Hearing for the Fire District’s 2018 budget. The presentation begins at 4:00 PM at the Key Center Fire Station and the regular Board meeting begins at 5:00 PM. We are required to make a public presentation and then file our budget with Pierce County by Thursday November 30th. Highlights in the budget include; funding a Division Chief position for Training and Medical Services beginning January 1st, and we also funded a Public Educator position beginning mid-year. We are also able to plan on needed repairs to the Key Center fire station and continue building reserves for vehicle replacement over the next 20+ years.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and you were able to spend time with family. We stayed home this year and had the kids over, so it was quite nice and stress free.
Until next week!
Guy R. Allen – Fire Chief
