The Chief’s Desk;
This week our crews responded to 48 emergency calls including; An RV fire on Erickson road that totally destroyed the vehicle, A woman who was stabbed in the face on Key Peninsula highway near Whiteman road with the attacker being apprehended by an off duty law enforcement officer who witnessed the attack, A man who fell from a tree and suffered serious injuries after landing on the chain saw he was using, and numerous burn complaints.
Recently, I have had a few conversations with people inquiring about the address changes that are coming in 2018. The purpose of the change is to bring the Key Peninsula into compliance with the standard addressing directional (N, S, E, W, NW, SW, etc). This is a federal mandate to meet the “conforming directional” rule. Pierce County plans to host information seminars as we get closer to the change. The simple message is this. Addresses with a KPN directional will change to NW and those with a KPS directional will be SW. Your house numbers will stay the same unless there is another factor that needs to be corrected, and every effort will be made to make all the changes at once.
We are squeezing in a last chance camping trip at Dosewallups State Park this weekend. This morning we were greeted by the elk herd as they ambled across the river in front of our camp sites. The majestic male watching guard over his ladies and the little ones scampering to keep up. It is such a peaceful place and definitely one of our favorites.
Until next week!
