Collecting Used Bikes

KP Fire is currently collecting used bicycles. The bikes are to be refurbished by the Purdy Womens' Prison in partnership with the Gig Harbor Kiwanis for low-income children.  KP Firefighters Association provides a new bike helmet with each one at a “back to school’ event for Key Peninsula families in August.  Bicycles can be dropped off at the Key Center Fire Station.

Now is the time to prepare for your home against this summers fire danger. Remove brush and other flammable items from around your home. We recommend that you create an area around your home of thirty feet as a “defensible Space”. This 30’ buffer will help prevent wildland fires from spreading to your home and give firefighters an area to work in as they defend your home if the need were to arise.
